Short Long Run

Thursdays are my long run day.  I know, sounds odd, but I don't work, my kids are in school and I'd rather have the weekend for time with the family.  Plus with kids sports and stuff, it's just easier if my long runs don't conflict with my husbands.  So Friday will be my shorter long run day.  You know, two longer runs to get your legs used to running while feeling tired.  It sounds daunting but when I trained last year for this 50K I got used to it really quickly.

So I did 10 miles.  It felt really good.  It's not quite a long run yet, I know, but my longest in awhile has only been 7, so 10 felt a little daunting.  I should have more faith in myself and my strong legs ;)

I hadn't had one before and the taste of regular syrupy sugary gels has left me gagging when I try to take them.  This wasn't bad.  The main ingredient is dates and I eat alot of those! so I was familiar with the taste.  And it's not too sweet.  I felt great after taking it as well, so , bonus!  I had the Orange Zest flavour so it wasn't entirely smooth.  I actually didn't mind that, it makes me feel more like I'm eating real food.
